Disability and Mental Health

In my thousands of court appearances in the Family Division, I can tell you that the overwhelming majority of my cases involved disability or mental health issues. Whether it was a kid not being diagnosed properly or a parent / guardian not receiving the care they needed — the ability to develop and administer a support plan can make the difference between success and failure.

This is why I care so much about running for judge.

As a public defender, I fought to make sure that a diagnosis was never grounds for a criminal charge or a probation violation. As a county solicitor, I pushed to make sure family goals were flexible and designed specifically to meet disability and mental health needs. And as a special education attorney, I work to make sure that every IEP is followed no matter where a child is educated.

I am committed to making sure civil rights are protected in court.

This is why I am so honored to have been recognized by ten disability and mental health groups for my work in this arena.

Here are several videos from our supporters and leaders in disability and mental health advocacy talking about why these issues matter in our courts and why they’re supporting my campaign for judge.

We need our courts to be accessible to everyone. I’m running for judge because I love the law, and I believe that the right judge can make a difference.

I hope to earn your support at the March 9th committee endorsement.
